Success is funny these days.
Everyone wants it. Everyone talks about it. Everyone admires it. But very few people are interested in the process behind it.
People want the result, not the journey. They want the “before and after,” but they are not asking what happened in between. Nobody is asking, “What did you go through?” They are only asking, “What did you do?”
And most times, the answers people expect sound like shortcuts:
“Just do this.”
“Follow this step.”
“Everything will fall into place.”
But life does not work like a quick instruction manual.
Success is not something you stumble into like finding money on the ground. It is not instant. It is not automatic. It is not always smooth.
It is built through stages, some exciting, some frustrating, and some that will make you question everything.
There is a stage where you try and fail repeatedly. A stage where you put in effort and see no result. A stage where it feels like nothing is working, even though you are doing everything right. A stage where resources are low, support is missing, and motivation is even lower. And yes, there is also that stage where giving up feels like the most reasonable option.
But here is what most people do not see when they admire successful people: they went through all of that too.
Take any example of success, people who created something valuable, built something from nothing, or achieved something significant. Behind their results were countless attempts, failed experiments, repeated adjustments, and moments where nothing seemed to work.
Like someone testing an idea again and again until it finally works, success is often the result of persistence, not perfection. It is not about getting it right the first time. It is about not stopping when it is wrong the first, second, or even tenth time.
The truth is simple, even if it is not always comfortable: success requires process.
But the younger generation often sees only outcomes. Social media, stories, and highlight reels make it easy to admire results without understanding the journey. People see success stories and want to replicate them instantly, forgetting that those stories were built over time, through struggle, patience, and consistency.
Nobody wakes up one day and becomes successful. There are stages. There are delays. There are failures. There are moments of doubt. And there are moments where nothing seems to make sense.
But the difference between those who succeed and those who quit is not talent alone, it is endurance.
So, while it may look like success “just happened” for some people, the reality is very different. They did not skip the process. They survived it.
And maybe that is the part worth remembering.
Because success is not just about what people see at the end.
It is about everything they did not see in the middle.
